Born in Norfolk County, she retired as a self-employed beautician after more than 50 years. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, and received a teaching certificate from Virginia Normal and Industrial Institute, now Virginia State University. She was a member of Abyssinia Baptist Church, New York City. She is survived by three nieces, Eunice O. Lipscomb of Hampton, Mildred O. Graves and husband Thomas E. Graves Jr. of Norfolk and Hermine O. Harris and husband Emerson Harris of Perry Hall, Md.; two great-nieces, Gladys Hill of New York City and Lorraine E. Graves of Norfolk; two great-nephews, Lawrence Madison of New York City and Thomas E. Graves III of Norfolk; two great-great-nephews, Thomas E. Graves IV and Jason Scott Graves of Chesapeake; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at noon Monday at Graves Funeral Home by Dr. G.G. Campell with burial in Calvary Cemetery . The family will assemble at Graves Funeral Home at 11 a.m. the day of the service.
