She was born Sept. 24, 1918 to the late Lee Dickey Haith and Beatrice Bland in Burlington, N.C. Enid was a member of Enoch Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess, trustee and usher. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren G. Chappell. She is survived by her grandchildren, Sheila Parham, Wanda Early, Jean Early and John Early; one great-granddaughter; two great-grandsons; devoted adopted son, Allen M. Hargrove; and an adopted daughter, Inez Grant; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Enoch Baptist Church, Virginia Beach. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby Street. Family and friends will assemble at 7117 Mamie Blvd., one hour prior to service for procession to the church. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
