A native of Norfolk, he was a retired, 38-year employee of Norfolk & Western Railway. He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. Besides his widow, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Iless Coston of Norfolk; a stepson, Cornelius Griffin, and a sister, Mrs. Mollie Miles, both of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. A funeral service was held Saturday, August 10, in Jerusalem Baptist Church by the Rev. T. M. Venable. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in charge.
