The Virginian Pilot Friday January 16, 1959
Mrs. Ettilena Beck Charles, widow of Joseph A. Charles and daughter of the late 
Joseph and Mrs. Lizetta Beck, died at a Norfolk hospital Thursday at 7:35 p.m.
She is survived by three sons, Joseph Edward Charles, Wilbur Beck Charles and 
Everette Winston Charles; a sister, Miss Bettie Beck; a granddaughter, Miss 
Carolette Charles; three grandsons, John E. Charles, Glenn G, Charles and 
Philip P. Charles; a step-granddaughter, Mrs. Jeanney Meagher, all of Norfolk; 
three step great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Charles was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, residing at 207 West 35th St.  
She was a member of the Knox Presbyterian Church for 46 years and of the W.H.T. 
Squires Bible Class.
The body will be taken from the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home to the Knox 
Presbyterian Church for funeral services Saturday at 3 p.m.  Burial will be in 
Elmwood Cemetery.
