Chavious, 89, of the 2500 block of Corprew Ave. died April 29, 1997, in her home. A retired teacher/guidance counselor for the Norfolk school system, she worked 45 years before retiring 22 years ago. She was a Norfolk native and the widow of William R. Chavious. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Norfolk, Moles Inc. Social Club and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Survivors include her son, Ronald R. Chavious; parents, Louise C. Jones and Mark C. Jones; sister, Nellie P. Nicholson; grandchild, Ronequa Marguerite Martin; niece, Louise P. Owens; nephews, William P. Parker and Mark and William Colden. She was predeceased by her brother, William L. Colden. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk, by the Rev. Warren Singleton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home Thursday at 12:30 p.m. for the funeral.
