Cheatham, 49, of 1516 Shipp street, who died at Kecoughtan Veterans Hospital after a long illness. The veteran of World War II was a native of Lexington, NC, and had lived in Norfolk 35 years. His memberships included Attucks American Legion Post 5 and Bank Street Church, where he also was an usher. He was employed by Mirrow Construction Company seven years. The Rev. J. B. Henderson delivered the eulogy and a solo was sung by Mrs. Petite Richardson. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, under direction of Citizens Funeral Home. Mr. Cheatham’s survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Cheatham of Norfolk; two daughters, Miss Beulah E. Cheatham and Miss Elnora Cheatham; a son, Johnnie B. Cheatham, all of Norfolk; an uncle, two aunts, and other relatives.
