Chesapeake - Solomon Cheatham, Jr., age 70, entered eternal rest on May 25, 2017. 
He was born in Norfolk, VA, on April 4, 1947, to the late Solomon, Sr., and Fannie 
Cheatham. He was predeceased by his sister, Sandra Cheatham Ross.

Solomon was a 1965 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and attended 
Norfolk State College where he majored in drafting. Two years later, he began an 
apprenticeship at NORSHIPCO, which later became BAE Systems. He worked his way up 
to the position of supervisor. After 48 years of service, he retired from BAE. 
Solomon enjoyed working with his hands and utilizing his trade skills and talents 
on numerous home improvement projects.

An avid fisherman, Solomon took to the waterways as often as he could. In his 
leisure, he also enjoyed bowling, gardening, playing the lottery and traveling to 
his favorite gaming venues. But most of all, he loved spending time with his 
family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 45 years, Dietriet; two sons, 
Solomon, III, (Sharon) and Tory, (Shanika); 7 grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald, 
and Andre, (Patricia); a sister, Janis; and a host of other family and friends.

The visitation will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Metropolitan Funeral 
Service, 7246 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA. Funeral services will be held at Sacred 
Heart Catholic Church, 520 Graydon Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23507, at 11:00 a.m. on 
Thursday, June 1, 2017. Solomon's final resting place will be at St. Mary's 
Catholic Cemetery, 3000 Church Street, Norfolk, VA 23504.
