VIRGINIA BEACH - Michael A. Chepiga, 94, died Sept. 11, 2006.  A resident of New 
York City, he relocated to Virginia Beach in 2001.  He graduated from the City 
College of New York in 1941, and worked as an accountant for the Esso Corporation 
for 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Frances, and four children, Frances, Ann, Michael and 
Stephen.  He was grandpa to Donna, Michelle, Chris, Ann, Rudy, Geoffrey, Emily and 
Katie and great-grandpa to Griffin, Garrick, Julian, Caroline and Sydney.

He was received as an affiliate of the Order of Friars Minor in 1978, in 
recognition of his exceptional charity to the friars.  He was a sextant, usher and 
bookkeeper for St. Stephen of Hungary Church in New York for more than 60 years.  
He was a 3rd Degree Knight in the San Salvador Council of the Knights of Columbus, 
serving as financial secretary.

A Rosary will be said by Tony Rossi at 7 p.m. Thursday, with the family receiving 
friends until 9 p.m. at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 2002 Laskin Road.  A Mass of 
the Resurrection will be conducted at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church on 
Friday at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Norfolk.
