Cherry, aged 47, husband of Mrs. Georgie W. Cherry, died suddenly yesterday morning at 8:45 o'clock at the Norfolk Navy Yard, where he had been employed for a number of years as a machinist. He was the son of the late John W. and Mrs. Mary Ann Pebworth Cherry, and was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. Surviving him besides his wife are two sisters, Mrs. Hugh Clement and Mrs. F.L. Beasley; one brother, J. Fred Cherry, Sr., and his stepmother, Mrs. Della C. Cherry, all of Norfolk. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists Local 441. He resided at 426 West Thirty-first street. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the funeral home of James V. Derry, 346 West Princess Anne road. The Rev. Sparks W. Melton, pastor of Freemason Street Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
