Cherry, died at a Norfolk hospital yesterday at 8:35 a.m. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Eugene Carlson, of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. Lyda Fleming, of Portsmouth, and Mrs. C.G. Lawrence, of Norfolk; a brother, A.W. Sawyer, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Fred Beasley, both of Norfolk, and two grandchildren and a great grandchild. Mrs. Cherry was a native of Pittsville, Md., and had been a resident of Norfolk for 65 years, residing at 6048 Eastwood Terrace. She was a member of the LeKies Memorial Methodist Church, and was active in fraternal circles, being a past grand chief of the Grand Temple of Virginia-Norfolk Temple No. 3, Pythians; charter member and past noble grand Virginia Rebekah No. 13, W.B.A. Review No. 5; charter member of Virginia Chapter No. 22, O.E.S., and past matron and past grand matron of Virginia O.E.S.; past Pocahontas of Oneida Council, State organizer of the Degree of Pocahontas and past Great Pocahontas of Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
