Virginian-Pilot, August 23, 1896
The funeral of Mrs. Chloe Cherry, widow of the late Mr. David Cherry, took 
place at 10 o'clock yesterday morning from the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. 
J. B. Newman, No. 423 North Highland Avenue, and was conducted by Rev. William 
H. Atwill of Cumberland Street Methodist Church. The interment was in Elmwood 
Cemetery, the following being the pall bearers Messrs. B. F. Walker, M. 
Holland, W. F. Lee, W. S. Barco, Dunbar Allard, S. S. Salyer.
