PORTSMOUTH - Ernest L. Cherry, 82, of 222 Mayflower Road, the husband of the late 
Mrs. Mary R. Cherry, died Wednesday in a hospital.

A native of Portsmouth, he was a son of Peter Thomas and Mrs. Hattie Russell 
Cherry.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Florence Cherry Pugh and Mrs. Hattie Culpepper, 
and two brothers, Henry R. Cherry and Hardy J. Cherry, all of Portsmouth.

A funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, Norfolk. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk.
