C. Cheshire Solemn Requiem Mass Said For Well Known Business Man Funeral services for Edward C. Cheshire, prominent local business man, who died Thursday night at his home at Willoughby, were held yesterday morning at 11 o’clock at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ocean View, attended by scores of friends, attesting to his high standing in the community. A solemn requiem mass was ce1ebrated. Those participating in the ceremonies were the Rev. R. B. Kealey, the Rev. Philip Blackborne, the Rev. Leo J. Ryan and the Rev. R. E. Harmon. The Rev. E. A. Brosnan, the Rev. John Healey, the Rev. E. B. Mu1larkey and Chaplain Flynn, U. S. N., were present. The sermon was delivered by the Rev. R. B. Kealey, pastor of Holy Trinity, who paid high tribute to the Christian life and character of Mr. Cheshire. Special music was given by the choir of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, comprising Mrs. James Hughes, Miss Mary Smith, E. Vincent Smith and E. J. Doran. Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Doran also sang several solos. Delegations were present from various fraternal and civic organizations, of which Mr. Cheshire was a member, and the floral tributes were exceptionally numerous. The honorary pallbearers were Norman Bell, Davis W. Jordan, Capt. John I. Clark. Dr. E. E Field, Clarence Smithers, W. W. Workman, of Richmond; W. H. T. Loyall, H. M. Kerr, Joseph Brady, of Petersburg; Dr. J. L. Deltrick, H. G. Whitehead, W. M. Hannan, R. M. Eastwood, J. M. Arnold, L. V. Gilbert, H. G. Owings, Joseph W. Stewart, of Richmond; Zenas A. Gay and D. P. Paul. Active pallbearers were Clinton L. Wright, W. H. Gary, Otto Wells, W. W. Lee, T. J. Ackiss, H. M. Wilkinson, Frank A. Evans, J. J. Collins, C. L. Barry and M. G. Long. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
