Norfolk Ledger Dispatch October 21, 1935

Henry Magruder Chewning, 47, died early today in his home at Chesapeake Beach 
following a heart attack. Mr. Chewning was prominent in the business life of 
Berkley, where for several years he has operated the Chewning Electric Company. 
He was a son of the late Henry M. and Mrs. Virginia Corbin Chewning and is 
survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Chewning; one son, Henry Magruder Chewning, 
3rd; one brother, Edward Chewning, of Martinsville; two half-brothers, Randolph 
and Henry Parker and his step-mother, Mrs. H.M. Chewning, of Martinsville.
The body was removed to the J.R. Williams Funeral Home, 1027 Chesapeake Avenue, 
South Norfolk. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Funeral services for Henry Magruder Chewning, who died Monday morning in the 
residence at Chesapeake Beach, were conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock in 
Armstrong Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery.
