Virginian-Pilot October 30, 1907
The funeral of John W. Childress, who committed suicide, shooting himself through 
the head with a revolver Saturday night last, was held from the funeral apartments 
of H. C. Smith, 179 Bank street, at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The service was 
conducted by Rev. Dr. Owens of St. Paul’s Episcopal church and the interment was 
in Elmwood cemetery. Following were the pallbearers: E. F. Hackey, Archie H. 
McCrery, A. Neil and Ernest Baker.
