Virginian-Pilot August 31, 1976
NORFOLK—Burton Whitham Chippendale, 81, a retired Navy captain, of 1202 Matoaka 
Avenue, died Monday in a local hospital.
A native of North Adams, Mass., he was the husband of Mrs. Margaret Simmons 
Chippendale.
He retired from the Navy in 1946.
A funeral will be held Wednesday at 12 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery. H. D. Oliver 
Funeral Apts. has charge. The family suggests that donations be made to charity.
