Norfolk Virginian August 29, 1883
CHITTY – Tuesday morning, August 28th, 1883, at 11 o’clock, VERNON, only child of 
James B. and Mamie Chitty, aged 7 months and 10 days.
His funeral will take place from his parents’ residence, No. 58 James street, at 4 
o’clock THIS (Wednesday) AFTERNOON.
Early hast Thou taken little Vernon,
And I know ‘tis vain to weep-
Tears of mine can never wake him
From his long and silent sleep.
