Norfolk Virginian Pilot February 18, 1955
Elmer (Doc) Byron Chitty, 68, son of the late James B. and Mary Simcoe Chitty, 
died at a Norfolk hospital yesterday at 8:15 a.m.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ethel M. Hobbs, of Norfolk and several nieces and 
nephews.  Mr. Chitty was a lifelong resident of Norfolk and resided at 3110 St. 
Louis Avenue.  Before his retirement in 1949 he was in the employ of the United 
States Maritime Commission for 25 years.  
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home tomorrow at 
11 a.m.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
