Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, March 18, 1991 
Bettie V. Church, 94, of the 1200 block of Roosevelt Blvd., died March 15, 1991,
in a hospital.

Mrs. Church, a native of Rock Fish, Va., was the widow of Thomas Church. She was
a retired self-employed seamstress after 50 years. She was a member and usher of
Mount Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include six daughters, Elizabeth Brandon, Eva Stilley and Emma
Barbour, all of Portsmouth, and Flora Mason, Clara Spence and Linda Lucas, all
of Norfolk; two sons, Charlie Church of Brooklyn, N.Y., and William Church of
Lancaster, S.C.; a brother, the Rev. Claude C. Wicks Jr. of Newark, N.J.; 49
grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Mount Calvary Baptist Church
by the Rev. W.S. Hampton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. Viewing
will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Corprew Funeral Home. The body will be placed
in the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
