PORTSMOUTH - Pernell "P.C." Claiborne, 59, of the 600 block of Nelson St., 
departed this earthly life and entered eternal life Feb. 20, 2006. Pernell was a 
graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and attended Norfolk State 
University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was past master of Malachi 
Lodge 133. He was employed by Norfolk Naval Shipyard Pipe Shop 56 for 32 years. 

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Bertha; three sons, Christopher 
Claiborne, Frank and Shelton Warren all of Portsmouth; three daughters, Mary 
Beale Copeland of Woodbridge, Va., Bertha and LeeAnn Warren, both of Portsmouth; 
13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Lawrence Sr. (Madrue) of 
Chesapeake and Frank Claiborne of Norfolk; one sister, Dr. Vanessa Brewer 
(Christopher) of Detroit, Mich.; and a host of other relatives and friends. 

A funeral will be held at noon Saturday in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 
525 Dinwiddie St. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and 
friends will assemble at 682 Nelson St. one hour prior to the service for the 
procession to the church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. 
Friday at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Chapel. Condolences may be
