J. C. Diamond, officiating. The Rev. J. Russell assisted the pastor. Mrs. Clanton was the daughter of the late Arthur Dozier and Mrs. Victoria Dozier. She was a devout member of First Baptist and had been a member since childhood. Out of town persons attending the funeral included Mrs. Louise D. Clanton, Arthur Dozier, and Willie Davis of New York City; Henry Crumb and Sam Crumb of Philadelphia; George Brown and Mrs. Lena Brown of Hertford, NC, Madams Mary Small and Rosa Lamb of Elizabeth City, NC; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Robertson of Richmond VA; Madams M. Brown, B. Saunders, Bessie Harris, John Smith and Naomi Crump, of Portsmouth, VA. Mrs. Clanton is survived by her mother, Mrs. Victoria Dozier; two children, Mrs. Emily Dozier and Samuel Clanton of New York City; one brother, Arthur Dozier, four sisters, Madams Sadie Wright, Ruth Turner, Victoria Valentine and Annie Willis, and other friends and relatives. Interment was in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Chatman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
