Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Monday, March 7, 1994 
Helen Hendricks Clanton, of the 1000 block of Barney St., died Friday, March 4,
1994, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mrs. Clanton was born in Norfolk, Va., and was the daughter of the late Robert
Hendricks and Nannie White Phelps. She had retired from U.S. Public Health
Hospital after 25 years. She was a member of St. John's A.M.E. Church where she
was active in several organizations within the church including the Female Usher
Board 2, Lay Organization, Doretha Jacobs Fellowship Group and the Nannie C.
Phelps Missionary Circle, named for her deceased mother.

Survivors include a daughter, Florence C. Allen; grandchildren, Renee Y.
Goffigan, Gerald A. Goffigan and Cherly Williams; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. John's A.M.E. Church by
the Rev. I.W. Knight. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be from
2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Riddick Funeral Service. The family will be at her
residence.
