                  CAPT. JOS. M. CLARK CLAIMED BY DEATH        
     Widely Known Towboat Operator and Native of Norfolk Succumbs At 68

Capt. Joseph M. Clark, aged 68, a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, died 
at his residence, 712 Westover Avenue, yesterday morning at 2:10 o'clock. He was 
the son of the late William H. and Annie Glennan Clark and is survived by three 
daughters, Mrs. G. Emmett Hogan, Mrs. William Walsh and Mrs. Virginia Elizabeth 
Clark; two sons, Joseph M. Clark, Jr. and J. Alvah Clark; three grandchildren, 
Mary Clark Hogan, George M. Hogan and Betty Ann Hogan; one sister, Mrs. Annie 
Miller Smith and two brothers, Cornelius F. Clark and Capt. John I. Clark.
Mr. Clark was prominent as a steamboat operator and was vice president of the 
Wood Towing Company, a director of the Hampton Roads Maritime Exchange and 
senior member of Joseph M. Clark & Bro. towboat operators. He was known all 
along the Atlantic Seaboard.
Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of which he was a 
member, Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Capt. Joseph M. Clark — Funeral services for Captain Clark, whose death occurred 
Sunday at the residence, 712 Westover avenue, will be held at Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church at 10 o'clock this morning. Interment will be in St. Mary’s 
Cemetery.
