Norfolk Landmark March 22, 1882
DIED ON HER BIRTHDAY – The many friends of Mrs. Maria P. Clark, relict of the late 
John J. Clark, and the mother of Sergeant J. J. Clark, of the police force, will 
be pained to learn of her death, which sad event occurred at 3:45 o’clock 
yesterday afternoon, at the residence of her son, on Reilley street. Mrs. Clark 
had long been a sufferer from a painful disease, which she bore with Christian 
fortitude. She had reached the age of 74 years on yesterday, when the hand of 
death was laid upon her. Her funeral will take place at 4:30 o’clock this 
afternoon from No. 107 Reilley street, at which time friends and acquaintances of 
the family are requested to attend.
