 A member of Calvary Baptist Church for 45 years, Mrs. Bessie V. Clarke, 81, of
909 Elkin street, was buried in Calvary Cemetery on Sunday, following a funeral
at the church.
  The Rev. C. E. Griffin officiated at the rites. Burial was under direction of
the Graves Funeral Home.
  Mrs. Clarke was a native of Gatesville, NC.  She was the daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hoffler.  Her fraternal association was St. Mark Lodge.
  Survivors are four sons, Carlton, W. P., Kermit and Howard Clarke; and a
daughter, Miss Mable Clarke.
