Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark January 13, 1912

Captain Edwin Cobb died at his home, 22 Fortieth Street, at 2:15 a.m. yesterday 
after a protracted illness in the seventy-fourth year of his age. The deceased 
was a native of New Jersey, but had been a resident here for eighteen years. He 
is survived by a widow, five sons and two daughters. His sons are: R.E., C.S. 
and S.C. Cobb of Florida, Bern Cobb of New York and U.G. Cobb of Norfolk, 
daughters, Mrs. C.H. Beacham of Norfolk and Mrs. Elma Sheldon of Millville, N.J. 
The deceased was a retired captain. He was a member of Neptune Lodge of Masons 
and Ariel Lodge of Odd Fellows of Morristown, N.J. The funeral will be held from 
the residence at 2:30 Sunday afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. George W. 
Cox of Burrows Memorial Baptist Church. The interment will be in Elmwood 
Cemetery.
