NORFOLK — Joseph Anthony Cofer, 70, of 926 Little Bay Ave., a lifelong resident 
of Norfolk, died Monday in a hospital.
Cofer had retired from a job at Birtcherd Dairy Inc. He was a member of Holy 
Trinity Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Greenland Cofer, a daughter, Audrey C. 
Wilson of Norfolk; two sons, Joseph H. Cofer of Chesapeake and Shepherd A. Cofer 
of Spotsylvania, two sisters, Rosalie Andrews of Greensboro, NC, and Virginia 
Ann Burke of Norfolk, a brother, John L. Cofer of Florida, and seven 
grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 11:30 am Wednesday in Holy Trinity Catholic 
Church by the Rev. Richard Bagnall. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. H.D. 
Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, is in charge.
Memorial donations may be sent to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
