Virginian-Pilot April 16, 1961
COFER, VERNON LONSDALE SR. – At a local hospital, Saturday, April 15, 1961, at 
12:15 o’clock, VERNON LONSDALE COFER SR., husband of Mrs. Carola Ross Cofer, and 
son of the late Alonzo M. and Mrs. Minnie May Cofer, age 84 years. The body will 
be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, to 
Elmwood Cemetery for a graveside service MONDAY AT 12 o’clock NOON. Friends are 
requested by the family to omit flowers and contribute instead to the building 
fund of Freemason Street Baptist Church.
