Boy’s Body Buried At Expense Of The City

Jesse Cofer’s Relatives Had No Funds to Bury His Remains

Jesse Cofer, the negro who was accidently shot by another youngster of his race 
while the two were wrestling for the possession of a gun, was buried at the 
expense of the city.
The boy died at St. Vincent’s Hospital several days ago, and as the family had 
no money with which to conduct the burial, notice was given the Health 
Department. It is understood that the taking of testimony in the case in the 
office of the High Constable Thursday will be merely a matter of form, as Dr. 
Kight, coroner, already has sufficient evidence in his possession to convince 
him that the affair was an accident.
