COGAN - At St. Mary's Orphan Asylum, January 10, 1888, at 11 a.m., SISTER MARY 
MARGARET COGAN.
Funeral will take place from St. Mary's Catholic Church, THIS (Wednesday) 
MORNING at 10 o'clock.

                                 Died of Heart Disease

Sister Margaret Cogan, Sister of Charity and one of the teachers in St. Mary's 
Orphan Asylum, dropped dead from heart disease in that institute yesterday 
morning. Sister Cogan was a lady of the highest attainments and accomplishments 
and a most beloved woman. Her funeral will take place from St. Mary's Church 
today at 10:30 o'clock.

The funeral of Sister Margaret Cogan, whose sudden death was noticed in 
yesterday’s Virginian, took place from St. Mary’s Catholic Church yesterday 
morning and was attended by an immense concourse of friends. Rev. Father Doherty 
celebrated solemn requiem mass, being assisted by Father Payne, deacon; Father 
Smith, sub-deacon; Father Frioli, master of ceremonies, and Father Elliott, who 
preached the funeral sermon. At the conclusion of the services the remains were 
borne to the Catholic Cemetery and interred, the following gentlemen acting as 
pallbearers: Matthew Dugan, J. C. Carroll, David Dunn, Wm. Donovan, Patrick Hart 
and J. O’Rourke.
