Norfolk Journal and Guide, Aug 7,1943
The body of Clarence L. Cole, 60, 1051 Calvert street, who was drowned on July 
29, in the Elizabeth River was buried in Calvary Cemetery on July 31. Born in 
Swan Quarter, NC, Mr. Cole had lived here 85 years.

(note: death certificate states Mr. Cole drowned about 7/4/1943 - body 
recovered 8/1/1943)
