Capt. J. J. Cole, one of the best known Virginia Pilots, was drowned yesterday 
at Norfolk. He fell from the pilot boat Relief while on duty. Friends believe 
the accident was caused by a stroke of apoplexy. Captain Cole was 34 years of 
age.
