Dr. Cole was born in South Dakota. He was the husband of Mrs. Mary Kirwan Cole. He received his Ph.D. from Catholic University in Washington and was a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of the Virginia Psychological Association and its board of examiners. He also was a member of the American Psychological Association. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its Parish council and the Knights of Columbus. He was on the board of directors of the Catholic Family and Children's Service. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Blair of Norfolk; two sons, Paul C. Cole of Chesapeake and Air Force Capt. Dean Evan Cole of Merced, Calif.; six brothers, Firmin Cole of Huntington Park, Calif., Vick Cole of Brookings, S.D., Nester E. Cole of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., John M. Cole of Golden, Col., Hilary Cole of Rapid City, S.D., and Basil Cole of Tyndal, S.D.; and three grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church by the Rev. Fr. James Forwalk. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Tuesday at 10 a.m. The family will assemble at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments on Tuesday.
