The Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark Friday March 2, 1934
Frank Colenda, Sr., aged 85, died at his residence, 914 Fairfax avenue, last 
night at 8:30 o'clock, after an illness of two weeks.  He was a native of 
Austria and had been a resident of Norfolk for 60 years.  Surviving him are 
his wife, Mrs. Martha Fentress Colenda; three sons, Ezekiel, George and 
Christopher C. Colenda, and one daughter, Mrs. J.D. Reed, and two stepsons, 
W.S. Bowden and James Bowden, all of Norfolk; 23 grandchildren and 11 great-
grandchildren.
Mr. Colenda held membership in Elizabeth Lodge 34, A.K. & A. M. of which he 
was a tiler for more than 42 years. He also held membership in Massasoit 
Tribe of Red Men.  The body was removed to the funeral home of James V. 
Derry, 345 West Princess Anne road.  Notice of funeral will appear later.
