Norfolk Virginian Pilot November 27, 1950 
Mrs. Gertrude Gardner Collins, 74, died Saturday at 8 p.m. at her residence, 1904 
Atlantic Avenue, Edmond's Corner, after a long illness.
She was a native of Bertie County, N.C. and had made her home here for 50 years.  
She was the daughter of William T. and Mrs. Mary Simmons Gardner. 
She is survived by her husband, John Sawyer Collins; one son, John Paul Collins, 
of South Norfolk; one sister, Miss Lula Gardner of Princess Anne County, and one 
brother, W.T. Gardner, of Princess Anne County.
The body was removed to the Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk, where services 
will be conducted tomorrow at 3 p.m.  Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
