Virginian Pilot November 5, 1980

John L. Collins of 610 W. 28th St., a native of Newport News and retired from 
Newport News Fish Co., died Monday in a hospital.
He was the husband of the late Mrs. Sallie Collins. He was a member of Jerusalem 
Baptist Church and its Deacon Board and Norfolk New Light Masonic Lodge 196.
Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Virginia Cartwright of Norfolk.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Graves Funeral Home Chapel by the 
Rev. Thomas M. Venable. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A Wake service will be 
held tonight from 7 to 8 in the funeral home.
