VIRGINIA BEACH - On Saturday evening June 19, 2010, almighty God peacefully 
brought to an earthly close, the life of our dear and beloved Prentis Lee 
Collins. 

Prentis was born to Mrs. Maxine Collins Johnson and the late Mr. Prentis Lee 
Collins Sr. on March 16, 1949 in Norfolk. After the death of his father, the 
family moved to Virginia Beach where he was reared and educated. At an early 
age, Prentis relocated to Brooklyn, N.Y., where he spent many years. Upon his 
return to the Hampton Roads area, he held employment in various places, most 
recently as church custodian for Mount Bethel Baptist Church and Burlington Coat 
Factory, Virginia Beach. 

Prentis leaves to cherish his memory his beloved mother, Mrs. Maxine Johnson; 
four children, Mr. Carlos Neal of Indiana Head, Md., Mrs. Kim Evans (Shawntary) 
of Portsmouth, Mrs. Takiayah Collins of Somerset, N.J., and Mr. Yahuwda Jenkins 
of Waynesboro, Va.; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Mr. Gerald Collins 
(Linda) of New Carrollton, Md., and Mr. Ronald Collins (Carol) of Lanham, Md.; 
three sisters, Mrs. Patrice Hunter, Mrs. Brenda Mallory and Ms. Maxine Edney, 
all of Virginia Beach; a host of other relatives and friends. 

A funeral will be Thursday, June 24, at 11 a.m. in Mount Bethel Baptist, 4636 
Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, the Rev. Dr. R.D. Moore officiating. 
Community Funeral Home, 1210 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, is handling 
arrangements.
