Marylyn fought a courageous but short battle with cancer. Born in New York on June 18, 1937, to the late Victor and Sophie Comerico, she was raised in Norfolk. Marylyn is survived by her brother, Joseph A. Comerico and his wife of Chesapeake. She also is survived by her four loving daughters, Catherine Lyn Gilmet of Windsor, Terri Morrissett of Gloucester, Victoria Rose Stewart of Suffolk and Faye Marie McCoy of Prince George, along with their husbands. Marylyn also had seven grandchildren, Robbie, Kristal, Josh, David, Joey, Tony and Aaron; and a great-grandson, Robbie Jr. She is also survived by her best friend, Susie Luteran of Erie, Pa. Marylyn was a member of Open Door Church of Suffolk. She was active as a peer supporter in many co-dependency counseling programs and was a past auxiliary volunteer at Obici Hospital in Suffolk. She had retired from Southland Corp. after many years of service. Marylyn was strong and the center point of her daughters' lives. They had a strong mother-daughters friendship that surpassed the bounds of time. Her love was unconditional as a mother's love should be. She and her brother, Joe, shared a unique and loving relationship. Although leading separate adult lives, they strengthened each other daily and looked to each other as a source of support. Marylyn had a strong and timeless friendship with Susie; they were more like sisters than friends. Their families were interwoven as one. Marylyn was loved by many and will be missed by all. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Open Door Church, 816 Kings Fork Road, Suffolk. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge.
