The Virginian Pilot Tuesday May 21, 1985
Norfolk - Jack E. Comess, 85, of 1531 Longdale Drive, a native of Russia and the
widower of Ida Soloman Comess, died Monday in a hospital.

He had retired and was an Army veteran World War I.  He was a member of Temple
Israel, B'rith Sholom and Jewish War Veterans.

Survivors include two daughters, Annette Halprin and Esta Shapiro, both of
Norfolk;  four sons, Morris Comess and Abe Comess, both of Norfolk, Sam Comess
of Davenport, Iowa, and Dr. Raymond comess of Reading, PA;  and six grandchildren.

The graveside funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Forest Lawn Cemetery
by Rabbi Saul Z. Hyman and Cantor Isaac Danker.  H. D. Oliver Funeral
Apartments, Norfolk, is in charge of arrangements.
