She was a daughter of the late Dr. Joseph and Mrs. Annie Chapman Commander. She was a native of Elizabeth City, N.C., and had lived in Norfolk for the past 70 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Bertha C. Ferguson and Mrs. Hugh W. Simpkins of Norfolk; a nephew, J. Frank Minter, and nieces, Mrs. A. M. Bell and Mrs. Hunter F. Robinson of Norfolk, and other nieces and nephews. The body was taken to H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. A funeral service for Miss Commander will be conducted at the grave in Elmwood Cemetery Wednesday at 10 a.m. Bishop Walter C. Gum will officiate.
