NORFOLK - Mary Ellen Commodore, 97, passed away March 28, 2008. Mrs. Commodore was 
born in Richmond and resided most of her life in Norfolk. She retired as a 
bookkeeper for Colonial Stores Business Office for many years. She was a member of 
Christ the King Catholic Church. Mrs. Commodore was preceded in death by her 
husband, Miles E. Commodore, and a grandson, Shannon W. Commodore.

Survivors include two sons, Jack M. Commodore, of Norfolk, and his fiancée, Marcia 
Zaifert, of Virginia Beach, Robert L. Commodore, and his wife, Agnes, of Kansas; a 
daughter, Marianne P. Vest, and her husband, Robert "Bobby," of Virginia Beach; 
nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral 
Home, Norview Chapel.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Christ the 
King Catholic Church by Father Brian Rafferty. Interment will follow at St. Mary's 
Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. 
Friends may sign the guest register book at www.mem.com.
