M Commodore, Ex-Police Officer, Dies at Age of 63 Luther Melvin Commodore 63, retired member of the Norfolk Police Division, died yesterday at his home 9484 First View Street, Ocean View. The veteran police officer had retired from the Police Division about five years ago. A native of York County and a son of the late Jacob F. and Mrs. Sadie Hudgins Commodore, he had lived in Norfolk for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alma White Commodore; two sons, Miles Edward Commodore and Vincent Commodore, both of Norfolk; two grandsons, Jack Commodore, of Norfolk and Robert Commodore, of Germany; one granddaughter, Miss Mary Anne Commodore, of Norfolk; two brothers, Floyd A. Commodore of Norfolk and Elton Commodore, of Ohio and one sister, Mrs. Edna Edgar, of Ohio. The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ocean View, for funeral services tomorrow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary services will be held today at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral apartments. ************************************************************************ Luther Melvin Commodore — Funeral services for Mr. Commodore, who died Sunday, were conducted at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ocean View, yesterday at 10 a.m., by the Rev. Paul Gaughan. Present in the sanctuary were the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cannon, the Rev. Carlos Poole, the Rev. Henry Magee, the Rev. John Meehan and the Rev. Gabriel Maiorelio. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Capt. B. H. Dowe, J. A. Galvin, N. C. Daughtery, J. B. Murden, Samuel Hughson, Ray Blanton, Harry Sawyer, and H. Twiford.
