Norfolk Virginian Pilot January 9, 1942

CONNELLY, WILLIAM JOSEPH — At the residence, No. 230 East Fortieth street, 
Thursday, January 8, 1942, at 8:10 o’clock a.m., WILLIAM JOSEPH, husband of Mrs. 
Harriet Robinson Connelly, and son of the late John and Mrs. Alice McDonald 
Connelly, in the 62nd year of his age. Remains will be taken from the H. D. 
Oliver Funeral Apartments, No. 1501 Colonial avenue, to St. Mary’s Catholic 
Church, for services SATURDAY MORNING at 11 o’clock. Friends of the family are 
invited to attend. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery.

William Joseph Connelly, aged 61, husband of Mrs. Harriet Robinson Connelly and 
son of the late John and Mrs. Alice McDonald Connelly, a native and lifelong 
resident of Norfolk, died yesterday morning at 8:10 o'clock at the residence, 
230 East Fortieth Street, Riverview.
Mr. Connelly was a deputy City High Constable and was formerly well known in the 
transfer business. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary's 
Catholic Church. Besides his wife, Mrs. Harriet Robinson Connelly, he is 
survived by a son, William Joseph Connelly, Jr., of Norfolk; two sisters, Miss 
Elizabeth Connelly, of Norfolk and Mrs. Margaret C. Kilfara, of Chester, Pa.; a 
niece, Miss Elizabeth Kilfara and a nephew, Edward Patrick Kilfara, both of 
Chester. 
The body will be taken from the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1501 Colonial 
Avenue, to St. Mary's Catholic Church for services Saturday morning at 11 
o'clock. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary services will be held 
at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tonight at 8 o'clock.
