W.A. Fairer, 420 Raleigh avenue, driver of the car has been released under bond of $1,000 to answer a charge of involuntary manslaughter in Police court Monday morning. Fairer was going north on Granby street and as approached Thirtieth, Constable attempted to cross directly in front of his machine. He was knocke to the pavement with considerable force an rendered unconscious. Fairer carried him to the Protestant hospital without learning his name, and then proceeded to Police headquarters where he surrendered. He was docketed on a charge of assault with an automobile and released on bond. Shortly before eight o'clock the hospital authorities notified police headquarters the aged man was dead and a few minutes later B.F. Foster, son- in-law of Mr. Constable, telephoned headquarters that his father-in-law was missing. Detective White immediately got in touch with the hospital and the body was identified as that of Mr. Constable. Mr. Constable is survived by a wife, one son, W.C. Constable, Jr. and two daughters, Mrs. B.F. Foster and Mrs. L.T. McCann, all of Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence tomorrow at 11 o'clock by Rev. W.H.T. Squires and interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mr. Constable received injuries on the head and body.
