John B. Contrado, 82, of Norfolk, a retired employee of the Walker LaVerge Glass 
Company, died Feb. 6, 1994, in his residence.

Mr. Contrado was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. He was the widower of 
Lavonia Contrado. He was a Roman Catholic and an Army veteran of World War II. He 
was a charter member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied 
Trades Local Union 1846.

Survivors include four sisters, Mamie and Mary Beck, both of Norfolk, Virgie 
Robertson and Toni Baxter, both of Virginia Beach; and three brothers, Michael 
Contrado of Norfolk, and Vincent and Dannie Contrado, both of Virginia Beach.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. 
Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church by the Rev. Pascal Kneip, O.S.B. Burial 
will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive friends in H.D. Oliver 
Funeral Apts., Norfolk, this evening at 7 p.m., followed by a Christian wake 
service at 8 p.m. Friends of the family are invited to attend.
