He was a native of Ireland, but had been a resident of Norfolk for 30 years, in 28 of which he had been connected with the Virginia Electric & Power Company as dispatcher. He was a member of Norfolk Council K. of C. Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. E.J. Gerloff and Miss Lorraine M. Coogan and two sons, J.D. and E.C. Coogan. The body will be taken from the residence, 3119 St. Louis Avenue, Lafayette Residence Park, to St. Mary's Catholic Church for funeral services at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. ************************************************************************* James Joseph Coogan — Funeral services for Mr. Coogan were conducted yesterday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Rev. E. A. Brosnan officiating. The Rev. P. P. Brennan, M. Hartigan, E. P. Gallagher and A. J. Taylor were present. Father Brosnan paid a very high tribute to the Christian life and character of the deceased. During the service, Mrs. James Hughes sang, “Lead Kindly Light,” with E. J. Doran organist. There was a large attendance and many floral offerings. The casket was covered with a pall of white chrysanthemums and ferns. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The pallbearers were M. Holland, Jacob Leicht, William I. McNamara, John Lockamy, Frederick Soucie, Rufus Parker, W. W. Williford and Charles Emanuelson.
