Norfolk Virginian April 8, 1897
At 2:30 o'clock yesterday morning, Mr. James C. Cooke died at his residence, 
No. 256 Bute street, aged 70 years. The funeral will take place at 5 o'clock 
this afternoon from St. Luke's Episcopal church. The deceased was at one time 
City Surveyor of Norfolk. He leaves a widow and one son, Mr. James K. Cooke, 
of the Marine bank.
