Cooke on Bute street, at 1 o’clock A.M., 20th instant, MARTHA PARKER COOKE, aged 16 y’rs. Vigorous and elastic in health and spirits; graceful and lovely in form and feature; unobtrusive and attractive in manner and character; with all the blessings that parental affection could bestow, the brightest hopes seemed to beckon her on in life’s opening pathway. But at the period of passage from girlhood to womanhood, as she looked eagerly to a happy future, her feet stood still and her eyes closed in the darkness of death. Yet, when we think of her consecration to God in her infancy, of the Christian influences of her home, and of her wish to confess Christ before the world, we cherish the hope that death was to her the herald of a cloudless and endless day. Leaning upon our Father in Heaven, and looking for a blissful reunion beyond the grave. “We will be patient and assuage the feeling We may not wholly stay; By silence sanctifying, not concealing, The grief that must have way.” Her funeral will take place from Christ church FRIDAY AFTERNOQN, 21st, at 1 o’clock. The friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend without further notice.
