Sir Coomes, a native of Maryland, was captured at Centerville during the civil war war and made a prisoner at Fort McHenry, Baltimore, from which prison he esc escaped, afterward being recaptured and sent to the military prison at Rock Isl Island. He married Miss Ada Lee, a cousin of General Robert E. Lee, and lived in in Lynchburg, Va., up to a year ago.
