The Virginian Pilot Friday April 3, 1959
Lewis Mitchell Cooper, 66, husband of Mrs. Belle Marable Cooper, and son of 
Walter Lewis and Mrs. Sophie Johnson Cooper, a native and former well known 
resident of Norfolk, died Thursday at 2:30 a.m., in Washington, where he had 
made his home the last 25 years.
He had been in the real estate and mortgage loan business in Norfolk and 
Washington for the last 40 years. He was an active member of the Society of 
Residential Appraisers, and was past member of the board of governors of 
that society. He also was a member of the "Newcomer Club" of Washington, and 
of the First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Belle Marable Cooper, he is survived by two sisters, 
Miss Anne Cooper of Washington and Mrs. A.T. Elliott of Williamsburg; a 
niece, Miss Alice C. Elliott of Williamsburg, and a nephew, Lewis N. Elliott 
of Washington.
Funeral services will be held at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Saturday 
at noon by the Rev. Edward H. Jones D.D., pastor, and the Rev. Jason L. 
MacMillan, D.D., pastor emeritus of the First Presbyterian Church. Burial 
will be in Elmwood Cemetry.
